Master-McNeil Names Global Village's OneWorld Family of Telecommunications Products
In conjunction with Global Village Communication's announcement today of its OneWorld family of telecommunications servers, Master-McNeil, Inc., a naming consulting firm located in Berkeley, California, announced its creation of the OneWorld brand name.
The new OneWorld products from Global Village include OneWorld Fax server, the first plug-and-play fax server for Macintosh workgroups; OneWorld Remote Access server, a complete, easy to use Apple Remote Access server for Macintosh networks; OneWorld Manager administration software; and GlobalAccess server software. The OneWorld family of products extends the benefits of Global Village's personal telecommunications products to workgroups of Macintosh users on a network. The OneWorld telecommunications servers join the award-winning Global Village TelePort and PowerPort fax modem lines which feature the widely acclaimed GlobalFax software.
Global Village's President and CEO Neil Selvin commented, "The OneWorld name ties back to the roots of our company. 'Global Village' was coined by Marshall McLuhan to describe how advances in communications systems have reduced the practical size of the world. OneWorld takes that notion a step further, suggesting that we are all ultimately linked to one another. Through telecommunications, we truly are part of one world."
"Global Village stands out among other high-tech company names because it is evocative and image-rich," noted SB Master, President of Master-McNeil. "OneWorld reinforces and complements this imagery. Global Village and OneWorld are good examples of memorable, customer-oriented names. I wish we would see more of this in the high-tech marketplace."
"In developing the OneWorld name for Global Village, we looked at ways to suggest the key product benefits: people working together, individual access, and interchange," continued Master. "The OneWorld name has the scope to encompass a diverse line of advanced products. And it reinforces the Global Village corporate benefit of making telecommunications easy."
"By using the simple English words One and World we achieved semantic associations with simplicity, approachability and friendliness. The alliterative 'w' sound of each word makes OneWorld pleasant and easy to say. And for non-native English speakers, we expect the meaning to be both intelligible and appealing," Master concluded.
Master-McNeil, Inc., founded in 1988, creates corporate and product names for companies that market internationally. Recent Master-McNeil trademarks include Borealis, the Norwegian-Finnish merger which formed the largest petrochemicals company in Europe, Apple's GeoPort and AV Macintosh line, TranXact transaction processing products for Sprint, and Sun Fusion for Sun Microsystems.
Other Master-McNeil clients include Visa, Sega, Wells Fargo, Cisco Systems, and Kubota. Naming projects directed by Ms. Master prior to founding Master-McNeil include Touchstone Films, Westin Hotels, and Pacific Telesis Group, among dozens of others.
